Aware of Lucio Doro’s expertise in lacquering, Sebastian Herkner set out to express the quality and the beauty of this technique through creating a simple but elegant surface. The gentle slope and curve of these panels allow one to see how the lacquering modifies the perception of a colour.

Each screen is composed of three panels in colours that are quite unexpected and new in the lacquering tradition. The technique used for this creation is sophisticated: it took several layers to achieve the depth of colour, the level of reflection and evocative feeling they sought.
