Double Signature. A dialogue between design and artisanal excellence

Studio Job
Ganci Argenterie

Studio Job was established in 1998 in Antwerp (later expanding to Milan) by Belgian artist and designer Job Smeets. It merges traditional and modern techniques to craft both art and design works that echo the ethos of a Renaissance atelier, yielding unique pieces. Studio Job draws from classic, popular and contemporary design, as well as visual art and sculpture, embodying a fusion of diverse art forms and craftsmanship. Sculptors and experts in bronze casting and stained-glass work alongside specialists in laser cutting and 3D printing, bringing a variety of art and craftsmanship to life. Job Smeets stands as a trailblazer in conceptual design, with work ranging from unique bronze art pieces displayed at the Metropolitan Museum in New York to a stamp featuring the Dutch king (produced in a run of forty million copies), life-size bronze sculptures on Miami Beach and a Wunderkammer produced for Swarovski in Innsbruck. Each project is marked by a passion for detail, unfettered freedom of expression and a blend of craftsmanship with digital technology. Studio Job’s work bridges the gap between object and product by merging monumental design with functional art, and is featured in a host of top museum collections.

Ganci Argenterie was established in 1926, and is one of Milan’s oldest factories. It was taken over by Giuseppe Morandino in 1960. Today his grandchildren Giovanna, Giuseppe, Giorgio and Gianluca keep the flame of the family’s passion and savoir-faire burning bright. The company’s reputation for producing extremely refined chiselled pieces precedes it. The atelier excels in traditional artisan techniques such as hand-finishing, casting, assembling, planing, embossing, chiselling, and engraving. Within its extensive showroom, a broad array of silverware and accessories includes a variety of charger dishes, soup tureens, bowls, candlesticks, cutlery, teapots, trays, boxes and vases. These pieces are crafted by highly skilled silversmiths, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship and a keen eye for detail. The Morandinos keep the historical Milanese tradition of excellence in silver work alive with great skill and prestige.
