Double Signature. A dialogue between design and artisanal excellence

Armadillo Chair

“I had fun designing a chair that was impossible to build, and Yecid had fun proving to me that he could actually do it. We challenged ourselves, working with our minds, hearts, bodies and souls.” The designer explains how this project was inspired by the armadillo, an animal that lives all over Latin America, often cropping up in popular, playful stories and songs. The construction challenge called for a year’s work and many meetings between the two creators. The Armadillo chair is designed for people to rest in its comfortable, all-enveloping shell; the curved shape stimulates the imagination. It is a fairy tale; not like the ones we used to read when we were little, but a wooden fairy tale. One to be touched, one we can discover and interact with. The result of creative flair that knows no bounds, and of unparalleled skill.
