Double Signature. A dialogue between design and artisanal excellence

Silva

“Wood has always aroused deep respect and a certain reverence in me: it is a living material, which continues to change and move even after many years, as if it were inhabited by a restless spirit that survives its natural death. Luciano's work reveals a genuine connection with this material and with the artisanal tradition of the Western Alps. His respect for the memory of tradition has allowed him to create a project intimately connected to the place where his workshop is located, using not only local wood but also ancient techniques that pay homage to the forest. The 'Silva' chair is inspired by the alpine landscape and the woodworking process, from the raw branch to the finished object. 'Silva' is a visual story that celebrates the vigour and delicacy of nature, highlighting the dialogue between tradition and contemporary design. The project itself is very complex, and requires an expert hand and great sensitivity.” Andrea Mancuso

“What struck me most about Andrea was his design-oriented approach and his desire to carry out cultural and historical research. From the very beginning, the project stirred up a great interest and curiosity in me. I believe that the chair, in all its nuances, is one of the most important pieces of furniture. Our collaboration started with on-site research and continued in the workshop, with a steady exchange of ideas throughout the process. The most challenging part was sourcing the material, since the timber was of unusual dimensions.” Luciano Tousco
